A Texas transportation company, named after two Texans.
Sam Barret Transportation Group LLC operates from Fort Worth. The dispatch service is open to carriers today. What follows is who we are, where the name comes from, and what we are not.
Sam Houston, and Colonel William Barret Travis.
Sam, for Sam Houston. Barret, for the middle name of Colonel William Barret Travis, who commanded the Alamo garrison and wrote from inside it on the twenty fourth of February, 1836.
Travis addressed that letter to the people of Texas and all Americans in the world, and closed it with an instruction for how it was to be carried out: with all dispatch.
He meant it the way the word was used then, which is to say quickly, and without anything being dropped along the way. It is still the right instruction for a rate confirmation, an invoice, and a returned phone call, and it is the only reason we chose it.
The letter is held by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, which publishes the full text and the original manuscript.

What we are not.
Every one of these is a real thing some dispatch services do. We do not, and you should ask any of them the same questions.
- ·Not a freight broker. We hold no brokerage authority and no surety bond, because we never stand between a shipper and a carrier and take a spread.
- ·Not paid by brokers. Our entire revenue comes from the carriers we work for. There is no second cheque and no volume arrangement with a broker.
- ·Not holding your money. Freight proceeds go from the broker to you. We never receive, hold, or disburse them.
- ·Not allocating your freight. A load booked for you goes on your truck. We do not move it to another client carrier who pays us more.
- ·Not a compliance consultant or a law firm. We run the calendar and the files. We do not give legal, tax, insurance, or regulatory advice, and nothing on this site is advice.
- ·Not claiming what we do not have. No warehouse, no fleet, no terminal, and no service area we cannot actually cover. If it is not on this site, we do not do it.
